- Matsushima: JR Senseki line Sendai -> Matsushima-Kaigan about 40 min, 440 yen one way (fares rose 14 March 2026).
- Yamadera (Risshakuji, Yamagata Prefecture): JR Senzan line Sendai -> Yamadera about 1 h, 910 yen one way; 1,015 steps; entry 500 yen (age 4+ 200 yen).
- Zuiganji (Matsushima): adult entry 1,000 yen from 1 April 2026 (was 700). Matsushima Niomaru bay cruise: about 50 min, 1,500 yen adult.
- Zuihoden (Date Masamune's mausoleum, 1637, rebuilt 1979): 570 yen adult. Loople Sendai bus one-day pass 700 yen; with subway 1,000 yen (from 1 October 2026).
- Nikka Miyagikyo distillery: standard tour free with reservation; JR Senzan line to Sakunami about 40 min, 530 yen.

- Most 'Sendai tours' leave the city: Matsushima is 40 min east, Yamadera about 1 h west, Ginzan Onsen and Zao are full days.
- Several private 'Sendai' tours are walking tours: the price covers the guide only; trains, taxis and entry fees are extra.
- Viator lists private tours per person, but the per-person price falls with group size; the from-price is the largest-group rate.
- Zuiganji costs 1,000 yen since April 2026 and Yamadera 500 yen; older guides quote 700 and 300.
- Zao Fox Village is not on any Viator tour; its animal-welfare record has been criticised by Japanese and international groups.
